Testing & Metrology Facilities
At Southern Cold Forging Pvt. Ltd., a dedicated Testing & Metrology division ensures dimensional accuracy, metallurgical consistency, and compliance with customer specifications. All inspections are performed using calibrated instruments operated by trained quality professionals to maintain traceability and repeatability.
Micro Vickers Hardness Tester
Used for micro-hardness evaluation of surface-treated and case-hardened components. This enables precise measurement of hardness gradients and verification of effective case depth for critical automotive parts.
Vickers Hardness Tester
Employed for macro hardness testing across forged, machined, and heat-treated components. The tester ensures compliance with specified hardness ranges and validates process consistency.
Brinell Hardness Tester
Ideal for testing larger and softer components, the Brinell hardness tester provides reliable hardness values for forgings and heat-treated parts requiring broader contact measurements.
Rockwell Hardness Tester
Used for quick and accurate hardness checks, especially during in-process and final inspections. This tester supports multiple Rockwell scales to suit different material grades and treatments.
Superficial Hardness Tester
Applied for thin sections and surface-treated components, ensuring accurate hardness measurement without damaging the part or affecting functional surfaces.
Profile Projector
The profile projector enables optical inspection of complex geometries, contours, radii, and thread profiles. It is critical for verifying tight tolerances and ensuring dimensional conformity to drawings.
Metallurgical Microscope
A metallurgical microscope is used to examine grain structure, microstructure, and heat-affected zones. This supports metallurgical validation, failure analysis, and process optimization.
Calibration & Traceability
All measuring and testing instruments are periodically calibrated as per defined schedules to ensure accuracy and traceability. Records are maintained in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements, supporting customer audits and compliance reviews.
Quality Assurance Integration
Testing and metrology activities are fully integrated with:
- Incoming material inspection
- In-process quality checks
- Final inspection and dispatch approval
This integrated approach ensures consistent quality, reduced variation, and high customer confidence
